FAQ’s

How should I prepare for my first Chair Yoga class?

Everyone is a little different with what they need to do before class, but generally, it’s wise to eat something light an hour or two before class so that your body has some energy to get you through the class without feeling light-headed.

Wear something that allows easy movement of legs and arms, and something that’s not too tight on the mid-section, since this class is mostly seated.

Jen

Born and raised in Lethbridge, Jen first landed on her mat almost 25 years ago and has been practicing here with the Harvest community since 2014. Sometimes more athletic and at other times a more meditative practice, yoga has been a steadying and grounding influence in her life. Her love for the practice continues to grow every year.

Nora

I first came to yoga for a good stretch to complement my days spent playing soccer and running. I was hooked as the practice was a perfect balance of challenge, ease and fun, which left me feeling confident and strong. Over the years my practice has ebbed and flowed with the changes in life. It has taught me patience, compassion, and awareness to myself and others. I am so grateful to have found yoga. Learning how to become aware of the nervous system, the mind, the breath and how they all connect has been fascinating. I’m a forever student who enjoys geeking out over the human body. I hope to share a little bit of what I’ve learnt mixed in with some joy for the practice.

Amanda

Amanda’s path has been guided by a lifelong love of movement and a steady pull toward deeper meaning. Born in Toronto, Canada, shaped by her Sudanese heritage, and influenced by time spent living, working, and studying in places like Japan and India, she brings a thoughtful and heartfelt energy to her teaching.

Amanda has a deep reverence for the body as a place of wisdom within each of us. She has always been passionate about creating meaningful spaces — in the outer world through her background in design, and within the inner landscape through movement and stillness. Drawing from her training in Exercise Science, injury prevention, somatic awareness, and traditional Eastern martial arts, Amanda’s classes are equal parts soulful and skillful. Her style blends functional movement with meditative stillness, encouraging practitioners to move gently, breathe fully, and return to themselves.

Her Sudanese roots deepen her intuitive connection to ritual, rhythm, and resilience. She approaches teaching with the belief that the most honest practice is the one that helps us feel, not fix, and connects us home to ourselves.

Amanda teaches Restorative, Hatha, Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Yin, Yoga Nidra, and meditation, with an emphasis on accessibility, curiosity, and a tender, intelligent connection with the nervous system.

Dianne

Born and raised in Calgary, AB, Dianne is the youngest of 6 kids. As a little girl, she was always intrigued about what was below the surface of things and how they worked. Dianne was always a caregiver, a gift-giver, and a wandering inquisitive soul. She has always been fascinated with the body and how it functions, so naturally in her 16th year as a Massage Therapist, she STILL loves her job. Every chance she gets, Dianne continues with schooling, upgrading, or learning a new skill or craft to add to her working “tool belt’. She first tried yoga 20 years ago, but it wasn’t her time to fully immerse into it. She dabbled in various classes over the years, but in 2017 she felt the call to return to yoga. When she took her first 26 & 2 hot class, she was hooked! Not only did she soon realize the physical benefits but the emotional/mental benefits, as well.

During the pandemic, never one to shy away from a challenge, she enrolled and completed her 200 hour yoga teacher training, Yin Yoga training, and an AFLCA exercise theory & group exercise, cycle certification. She is currently in training for her Yoga Nidra certification. To Dianne, her experience is to be passionate about what you do and to remember to listen to your inner wisdom, as it will always lead you to amazing places.

She is passionate about writing, and loves the great outdoors – camping, all-things paddling, biking, hiking with her family and 2 pups – as well as making home-made things (renos included).
